Yoga

classes, courses and retreats

for the body, mind and spirit

About me

Jackie Dyson

I’m a yoga teacher and I offer practices that aim to keep the body strong and supple, the mind clear and focused and the heart and spirit uplifted. I’ve been a student of yoga for thirty years and continue to study and be mentored on my own journey. I’ve picked up gems of wisdom along the way and my teaching comes with a passion to share what I’ve learnt. In my view, yoga is not only about what we can achieve on the mat, but what we can take away from the mat to help us be the best version of ourselves in the world. Yoga has transformed my life, I’ve seen it transform the lives of others, and that’s my reason for doing what I do.

I hold a British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma, a Level 3 Mindfulness Certificate and have countless hours of CPD and additional training.

Yoga Classes

Come as you are and do what you can

It doesn’t matter whether you are a complete beginner or a life long practitioner, whether you are young or old, in great physical shape or have injuries or health considerations, there is a space for you in class.

All classes include āsana (postures), prānāyāma (breathwork), meditation, and relaxation techniques. We will usually work with a theme over a few weeks to explore the different aspects of what yoga has to offer. I have enjoyed studying various texts on yoga over the years, and I love to weave some of the gems of yoga wisdom into the classes.

and here’s what others have to say….

“I started yoga classes with Jackie nearly 5 years ago, with no experience and not much confidence in my balance or flexibility. The classes are a real highlight of my week – a chance to stretch everything out and clear my mind. No matter how I feel at the start of the class – whatever sort of day I have had or if I feel under the weather – I always feel better in myself by the end. Jackie always advises it’s about listening to what is right for your own body – some poses don’t work well for me but I can have a go – there’s no competition and Jackie always offers advice and options to get the most out of the class. Everyone in the class is really friendly too.

I also attended a day retreat which was an amazing experience.

I can’t recommend Jackie highly enough.”

” I love this ‘me’ time and come away feeling totally energised in body and mind, as well as being very relaxed and totally at peace with myself. Jackie has natural empathy and quickly puts everyone at ease . The classes are varied, easy to follow and thoroughly enjoyable. One thing I especially appreciate is that Jackie always takes time to check if anyone has any issues or concerns, and throughout  the session makes suggestions for alternative moves or positions for those who have any particular aches or pains. I personally feel Jackie possesses, in abundance, the very special qualities and skills required to make yoga classes hugely meaningful whatever ones level of ability “

Gill

“I have been a student of Jackie’s for many years. Yoga has contributed enormously to my wellbeing. Not only does it help with flexibility and physical strength, but it also promotes a sense of calm and clarity. The combination of postures and breathing helps to balance the body and mind. Jackie is a highly experienced teacher who has studied with some excellent teachers. She is very calm and exceptionally clear when she explains how to do the postures and always demonstrates them beforehand, making them easy to follow. At the end of class, we lie down in śavāsana, and she reads something inspiring, which helps with your perspective on life.”

Heidi

” I have known Jackie and enjoyed her yoga classes for many years, her depth of knowledge and empathy is both inspiring and reassuring. Her sessions offer a wonderful antidote to the stresses of every day life.

I have also been on Jackie’s retreats, to India and France. India was a life changing experience; two weeks of amazing yoga with a lovely bunch of people and the opportunity to experience all the sights and sounds of this totally inspirational but very different culture. I would never have gone on my own, but travelling with Jackie gave me the courage to ‘give it a go’ and I felt safe and confident in her hands!

The retreat in France, was also memorable, set in the heart of the French countryside we spent a wonderful week of yoga, spiritual healing, beautiful home cooked food and relaxation.

I thoroughly recommend a retreat with Jackie, there can be no better way to unwind and refresh the spirit in beautiful surroundings “

Aileen

” I have been attending Jackie’s classes now for over four years both locally and on retreat and more recently via zoom. I cannot recommend her highly enough, I always come away  from her classes  feeling so much more connected, she is a little piece of calm in a chaotic world! She has extensive knowledge that she teaches in a clear and approachable way. I would recommend her classes to all , experienced and beginner yogis alike “

Eileen

” Jackie has been an engaging guide and teacher through my journey into yoga, starting with beginner yoga sessions, followed by a meditation course, a yoga foundation course and now a zoom online yoga philosophy practice session. Her approach is gentle, applying her depth of knowledge and experience with yoga in her teachings in such a way that you are able to progress at your own pace and in a way that suits your body and lifestyle at any particular time in your life. Her classes are structured with a strong emphasis on alignment and coordinated breath work in the physical practice with postures of varying difficulties arranged in what feels like a natural flow with a confident delivery tailored to our needs. The most special thing  about her classes is that they offer so much more beyond the physical practice, delving into other dimensions such as energy, mind and heart with calming and invigorating breath and meditation practices. I’ve come away discovering enjoyment and benefits in practices that I wasn’t sure would work for me and this has encouraged me to deepen my practice in a way that I hadn’t planned to or imagined when I first started practicing yoga

Poonam

” After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s I did a lot of reading about this disease and discovered that Yoga could be very beneficial in dealing with many symptoms. I contacted Jackie and so began a wonderful journey. She has helped me physically in so many ways. My posture has improved beyond belief and I’ve learned to trust my body. Jackie is patient, caring, encouraging and non judgmental and takes time to explain her lessons and what benefits are gained from each pose. Jackie loves yoga and this shows in her lessons. Because of Jackie’s lessons I’ve learned to enjoy life again and have a more positive attitude. And she’s fun “

 Carol

” I signed up for yoga to help with my everyday stresses and after one lesson I was hooked. Jackie’s classes not only helped me alleviate my stress but also made me feel better about myself as a person. The beginner’s class was very suitable even as a complete novice ”

Steph

” Since joining Jackie in my later life to learn about yoga I have not looked back. My body has improved in movement and flexibility and the mindfulness has helped me immensely. I now feel younger in body and mind “

Jan

” Jackie is an excellent yoga teacher and incredibly experienced in her field.

As a fellow yoga teacher, I consider her a teacher for yoga teachers. She offers fantastic masterclasses and workshops which will enhance any teacher’s knowledge and experience.  Her workshops and masterclasses cover in depth study of the Yoga Sutras and Yoga philosophy.  These are unique compared to other offerings for teachers.

Jackie is a fabulous facilitator and always creates a very welcoming and inclusive space at her workshops. I always feel welcomed and it is like coming home to my yoga family.  I always leave these feeling nourished and brimming with knowledge.

Above all else, Jackie embodies her yoga and always passionate and enthusiastic in all she teaches “
