Les Passeroses South West France

Saturday 22nd June to Saturday 29th June 2019

Retreat to the tranquility of rural France and take a break from the stress of daily life

Les Passeroses gets lots of good press and deservedly so. The Guardian listed it as one of the ’10 Best Yoga Retreats in the World’ and The Times stated it is ‘one of the top yoga retreats in Europe’. It’s a very special place that each year gets better and better as Alex and Adrian continue to nurture and invest in the beautiful farmhouse conversion. Visiting yogis also continue to add to the good vibe of the place. I’m really looking forward to teaching here for my seventh year. Veronica Moulder will also be teaching alongside me again on this retreat.

The week offers everyone an opportunity to get away from being a human doing and spend some time as a human being. The yoga will be rejuvenating; the food nourishing and I trust there will be plenty of laughs and fun throughout the week. Overall it’s a chance to reconnect with yourself and recharge your batteries.

13.30 – Lunch

15.30 – Chai & tiffin

17.00 – Afternoon yoga practice

19.30 – Dinner

The above schedule is Sunday to Friday. Please note that on Wednesday we will go out to a local town after lunch. There will be no afternoon yoga class that day and we will eat out in the evening.

Arrivals on Saturday 22nd June are from 5pm onwards and departures on Saturday 29th June before 11am. Dinner and breakfast on those days will be confirmed once travel arrangements are known. There is no yoga practice on the days of arrival and departure.

Les Passeroses has a fabulous yoga studio which is well equipped with good quality mats, blocks, blankets and chairs. It’s the perfect space for our morning and later afternoon practice.

The yoga will include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, chanting, relaxation and philosophy. It doesn’t matter whether you have never been on a mat before or you are an experienced yogi there will be options for all levels. If you are a yoga teacher you may even find that you can use some hours towards your CPD.

The nice thing about being away for the week is that we have plenty of time to experience and explore and your body will have plenty of opportunity to get into the practice. Everyone usually leaves Les Passeroses feeling great physically, mentally and emotionally.

Food & Drink

All meals at Les Passeroses are vegetarian. The food is lovingly prepared and locally sourced. There are three meals each day. Breakfast is fresh fruits, cereals, homemade yoghurt, homemade bread/toast and jams. Lunch is substantial, usually with a soup or salad to start and dinner is three courses. On Wednesday Alex and Adrian get a break from the cooking and we will head into a local town for a bit of sight-seeing and dinner.

There is always fresh and dried fruit available in the kitchen and tea and coffee making facilities which you can help yourself to at any time.

Les Passeroses is a beautiful old farm house which has been renovated to create boutique accommodation and a fabulous yoga studio.

There are plenty of options to get to Les Passeroses be it trains, planes or automobiles…..

You can take the train to Angouleme (change in either Paris or Lille from the Eurostar);

Alternatively take a flight to Bordeaux, Bergerac, Limoges or Poitiers;

Alternatively some guests prefer to drive, although it is a fair distance so come prepared for a journey.

Transfers can be arranged from Angouleme and local airports, or you may prefer to hire a car from the airport. You will find the address and location details at www.passeroses.com/getting-here/

Things to do

Quite deliberately there is not a lot to do here and that’s the beauty of the place. Bring those books you’ve been meaning to read. Grab a place in the sun by the pool or if you’re not a sun worshiper there are plenty of shady places to sit around in the lovely contemplative garden spaces.

When you are there, Les Passeroses feels like miles away from anywhere and is set in beautiful rolling countryside. For those of you who like walking, you will definitely want to bring your walking shoes. There are plenty of walks around the area.

For those of you who like a bit of pampering, Jan, a local English therapist, has a therapy room at the bottom of the garden. She offers a range of wonderful treatments. She also makes lots of beautiful soaps and body washes. She knows a thing or two about aromatherapy and if you are interested you may want to take a look at her website www.your-aromatherapy-guide.com/index.html
